An art installation for a product launch needs a defined relationship between the product and its surroundings. Visual density, presentation and visitor movement should be considered together.
The aim may extend beyond creating a large backdrop. An installation can interpret a product characteristic, a brand approach or a particular idea spatially. Establish which message takes priority first.
Is the product central to the design or part of it? If close inspection is needed, assess the surrounding space accordingly. When displaying several examples, discuss each one's role and position.
Artwork should not obscure essential product information or functions. Share the needs of demonstration, sales and presentation teams during design. The installation does not automatically include all their equipment.
How can the brand message be simplified? A launch may communicate many features, but not all need a physical expression. One principal relationship or visual idea can guide the approach.
Technical or environmental claims about a product must come from verified brand documentation. Do not invent performance, sustainability or audience-effect claims to support the visual narrative.
How do photographs and the live view work together? Press photography, visitor images and direct viewing create different frames. Assess the design against the priorities established for the event.
Discuss camera positions and required clearances with the organisers. A photogenic space does not establish that images will be shared or generate sales. Evaluation of outcomes needs separate planning.
How are installation and product safety coordinated? Relevant technical representatives must confirm product weight, support and visitor contact requirements. Artistic presentation does not replace structural or product safety approval.
Clarify responsibility for installation, power and any digital components. Include use duration, dismantling and transport responsibilities in the project scope.
What belongs in the brief? Start with product images and verified dimensions, a site plan, brand guidelines, the intended audience and schedule. Explain whether design, physical production and on-site application are to be assessed.
